Running a Scandisk on Windows XP
There are two methods to verify your disk under Windows XP:
Disk Verification under safe mode:
Restart your Windows under safe mode (press continuously on F5 or F8 when starting your PC, before Windows is loaded)
Open the My Computer
Select the disk drive you want to scan:
Right click, select: “properties” option
Select the Tools menu and click on the Check Now button
Disk verification upon starting up Windows:
Open an MS-Dos window (in the run menu type: cmd and press OK)
Type in the chkdisk c: /F command
You will be asked whether you want disk verification the next time the system restarts.
Enter Y to confirm.
