  Step 1Perform your mainframe database query as you normally would.

  Step 2Generate your spool file normally. When saving the file, use the CPYTOIMPF command to get the output as a comma separated value file (Extension of *.csv).

  Step 3Open MS Word or MS Excel.

  Step 4Open the .csv file in Excel or Word.

  Step 5Click “Yes” on the “Convert To Table” dialog box. This will separate all the values in the spool file separated by commas into their own cells in Excel, or into their own table cells in MS Word. There is a very good chance that you will need to do extensive reformatting of the file to make it presentable.
