Step 1First you get your grid with your data open in Excel. I will be using Excel 2003 version. The first column is your data. You will be using the second column, or column “B” for your calculation.
Step 2
Once you have your grid ready you type in column “B” the formula of: =DATEVALUE(MID(A2,5,2)&”/”&RIGHT(A2,2)&”/”&LEFT(A2,4)) where you are equaling the data in column “A” in to a date. What you will get won’t look like a date until you format the cell. You would continue this formula for as many rows as you have data. You do this by moving your mouse to the corner until it makes a dark cross and click and drag to the required amount of rows. See picture.
Step 3
Once you have your numbers ready highlight the cells you want to convert in column “B” to a date. Then select FORMAT, then CELLS, then select DATE in the Format Cells box. You can make it any kind of format for a date. We picked mm/dd/yy. Now you have readable dates in your column “B”.
