Create a Custom Apple iPhone (iPod Touch) Icon for Your Web Site

  1. Create a image (.png format) with the size of 129 x 129 pixels which you want to use as the icon. ( see example icon @ apple.com: http://www.apple.com/apple-touch-icon.png ) Note: Try not to have image smaller than 45px as it might look blurry.
  2. After creating the image, save it as the name “apple-touch-icon.png”.
  3. Upload the image to your website. You can put the file on your website root directory.
  4. Alternatively, if you want to be more organize, you can place your image in other directory and add the following line inside the tag of your HTML.

  <link rel="apple-touch-icon" href="/root/image/apple-touch-icon.png" />(make sure you update the directory structure)

  That’s it. The next time your someone create an icon of your website, he or she will get a custom icon!
