Changing the MTU on My Belkin F5D8635 Router

  Try going through Microsoft’s Troubleshooting list for this:
  While attempting to perform the network test on the Test Xbox LIVE Connection screen, MTU status displays “Failed”

  There is no firmware update for the F5D8635 yours should have shipped with version 1.07 (however it is worth checking as some have a Pre-N firmware installed which can be flashed to 1.07)

  However the main issue will be that this router isn’t on the Vista certified list (see link on the M$ page) and so isn’t guaranteed to work with Live.

  Three things that would be worth checking are:
  - Does it work if it is the only device connected to your router wirelessly?
  - Does it work connected direct to your router with Ethernet cable?
  - Does it work via another wireless device? (i.e. grab a laptop – connect a cross-over Ethernet cable between xbox and laptop. Create network bridge between laptop’s ethernet and wireless network connections. Setup manual address on Xbox.

  There’s an outside chance that you have a faulty wirelss adaptor on the xbox but it’s unlikely.
